Roadhouse Races by thuglifejunior Roadhouse Races by thuglifejunior
Seeing this illustration took me back to the days when we would all meet down at the roadhouse at Jules street, in South Africa for the good old illegal street races....I mean yes people did die in some of these races, but as a teenager death seems so far away, it never happens to you, couple slugs on the old brandy and coke bottle and Yeah, you were King of the mountain......my friend had a old Dodge Colt that was so souped up, I'm sure the door window handles were operated by NOS Ha Ha, this beauty had everything, from the superbuild chassis, right up to an old converted corvette Stingray motor, that he had modified to fit the engine bay, this thing used to take off, man oh man could this thing drag.....the main competition in those days were the Portuguese from that area.....We used to love clashes with these boys, they used to have the cars and boy did they have beautiful women, man oh man, I'd spend the whole night just guzzling away and watching the women....is that so wrong Ha Ha....anyway just seeing this car in this situation, skidding around an Urban environment took me straight back to my youth, where on a Saturday morning, you would walk in to your home, having been out all night long, maybe even been in a accident or two....your Mom hollering at yer'....where you been and coming in at this....Oh No!!!! what happened to your car!!! Ha Ha those were the days.....so I just thought while I am at the stage where I am posting car shots, I'd reminisce a bit, and maybe get you guys and gals to do the same....the follies of youth hey, what a life being Sixteen......aaaaaah( Deep Sigh )Ha Ha

Too true, I think thats what most of it is about, that and the girls of course, but then again the racing is awesome, cos you know their is no safety involved, unless it is the real deal organised ones...../

As always your sense of *decorating* is superb!!!
But this time, your story surpasses your screenshot!! Love reading about your youth, and drag racing!! My youth was not so wild. But I do remember driving my 53' Chevy 80mph between the town I am living in now, and the other where I grew up. Only about 1 mile apart, and I think the speed limit was maybe 40mph or so... but I loved to drive, and loved speed!! Thanks for sharing and for tapping the old memories, Dale!!!:glomp::D
