Forever...Our Day

This wall spoke to me as soon as I seen it, have you ever had that happen to you, it said to me......this is your life, let me explain......you see that centre piece, that is me......me, my wife, and the board upon which we stand, is my Mom and Dad, they have been there throughout....it all happened 8 1/2 years ago, I had a great job offer in England, doing illustrations for the Hawker Harrier, military money, great money, so we upped our stakes and decided to come to the UK, left our jobs, sold the house etc etc,....it happened in the twilight zone, where you are waiting for aeroplane tickets, passports and such, we had gone to the British Embassy to pick up our passports, we were ecstatic, finally on the way.....as we walked out, a young girl jumped a stop sign, going about 90 to 100 miles phr, and hit us, as we were walking across the road, I seen her, and tried to push my wife out of the way, but the car was going too fast, I manged to push her out of the way, but the car just caught her a glancing blow, enough to throw her in the air 9 meters high, so her damage came, when she came down and hit her head on the kerb of the walkway....8 weeks in a coma, months and months of rehab and permeant brain damage, 22% of her right side damaged....as for me I took the brunt of the car, it hit me head on, striking me on the legs, and dragging me 30 meters under the wheelarch before driving off...thats why the picture of the car, on the screenshot...I remember thinking clear as day, why don't you stop, why haven't they stopped, all I seen was taillights, this all happened in the twinkling of a eye....then the whole tragedy really started to unfold, I cried out for my wife, no answer, so I tried to stand up, well I won't go into details but my legs looked like amateur night at the butchers, they snapped liked twigs, and actually luckily enough I couldn't walk as my back was broke, my spinal cord would have also snapped, sorry for the graphic details, but their you have it...she didn't stop, she could have helped.....now back to the shot....the spikes arising from the colorful centre piece are the obstacles that God has placed in our way from the beginning, testing and probing our strength....thankfully by the grace of God I beat them. the ladder type effect is the operations I have had, some good, some not so good, and still some yet to come, I have had 45 so far......you know I can forsee another major operation a year until I'm well into my Seventies...thats where the gray areas come into the frame of things, that is the part of the story I don't know, that which is still to happen, and by the Grace of God and my own strength we will beat again Ha Ha Ha it never ends do'es it, you got to laugh about it, cos if you don't you'll end up crying yourself to death.....I always say I am worth more in the pawnshop in titanium, than I am going to leave in my will.....my whole medical bill came to five and half million rand, it cleared us all out, my Mom and Dad's savings, our savings, my wife's Mom and Dad's savings.......yet at the end of the day, we are all still smiling and thankful to be alive, if not so well Ha Ha....well thats that, it was just this wall seemed to say, this is you, this describes your journey so visually accurate, I just couldn't not write the story.....but don't be saddened please by our story, this has a happy ending, we still have each other and as I said we are still smiling and we are both still mad as hatter's, in my wife's case, she has medical records to prove it Ha Ha....bye for now....The Thug.......P.S plus she was caught....Whooooeeeeeeee
