This a technical illustration that took me weeks to complete, from engineering drgs and photos to actual 3D technical illustration, I tried to show as much detail as would allow, there is no actual vehichle like this, but the chassis, framework and engine are of a genuine article, the rest I just made up for my portfolio, hope you like it. I used Isodraw and Coreldraw12 photopaint to complete this beast
Thanks Fred I've been a technical illustrator from pencil and ink stage, with airbrushing thrown in of course, to the now digital stage for about 22 years now, I love it, awesome job to do, especially the airbrushing, but sadly now that I'm disabled I can only sit and look at my airbrushes Boo Hoo, Ha Ha no it doesn't sadden me that much, I've still got my puter, but nothing beats that actual feeling of a airbrush in your hands, that feeling of ...I dunno creating I suppose
This one is a new one , I had the pencilled stage for years, about half finished, I finally got my butt into gear, scannned it in and finished it on the puter, I would have airbrushed it in the old days, but this time I just popped it into photopaint and toned it there, now its a new family member with its rightful place on the wall, next to street challenger, but I still love street challenger more
Holy crap!!! I downloaded it so I could see it closer, what a huge file!!! And what powers this vehicle? It looks like some kind of gasoline or another type of fuel, engine. Doesn't the very top part, it looks almost like an airfoil, but wouldn't it create drag? I really love technical stuff. I remember my Dad used to get Popular Mechanics magazine and I loved to look in it....and play with his old erector set also!!! Yes I had a doll too!!!

This vehicle started out as a logger for B$#l Engineering, can't say their real name due to copyright, I first illustrated the logger for a illustrated parts catalogue, so this would have been the front page assembly, from where you could point out all the sub-assembly's and people could turn to that page and look at the sub-assembly in more intricate detail and maybe order parts or actually see how it goes together....this illustration was done in pencil using eng. drg.'s for detail and measurements at first, but I never finished it, can't remember the reason why, contract never realized or something like that....now the reason I am telling you all of this, is to explain the hydrofoil on the top, that was actually meant to be grabs that would pick up the logs and stack them, after being cut down, to stack on the truck or in a pile.....the illustration was such a fine one, and I had put about 4 months work into it, that I never threw it away, I kept it, always meaning to finish it, just for my portfolio at least.....anyway months turned into years and finally my profession went into software mode, we were the last to be converted to computer, so I thought let me scan it in, and finish it on the new software, and hence you have the DGI Roadrunner, with a few alterations for copyright reasons, so ja it does look ungainly and it would never work, for what I named it for, but it was a illustration I was compelled to finish, a pride thing.....I mean I just bought the new software now, 1 year ago, so I could start contracting on the side, and it cost me 4 1/2 thousand pounds to buy, but sadly my game is mostly military and because I am disabled I can't get onto site and crawl all over vehicles to take measurements and such, but the commercial jobs, just two of them paid of the software in one go, and they were small jobs, but now it lays dormant, I should have never bought it in the first place, as I knew with my disabilitys I would never be a technical illustrator again, but I had to try....these last 8 years has been a nightmare, being disabled is not easy Ha Ha, understatement of the year Ha Ha, so ja I had to give you the full story as a shortened version wouldn't have made sense......but I'm still happy, so that counts...and their endeth the story.....sorry for the book ha Ha

In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
